Nago Pineapple Park

This weekend, after our quick trip tangerine picking we headed back down the road to the Nago Pineapple Park.
This wasn't really a park, at least not by my kids' standards. It was really more of a shrine dedicated to all things pineapple. The tour was surprisingly cheap, which was nice since we weren't really sure what to expect anyway. And luckily it was really dead there, so no lines. The first thing we did was get in this glorified golf cart w a HUGE pineapple on top.
The girl who helped us into the car said the word, 'auto-matic!' to Ryan & I didn't think much about it until an English speaking voice began out 'tour' & the cart literally took off automatically! We all laughed & Ryan turned around to me & Mimi in the back seat w a 'look ma', no hands' gesture.
Mimi digs the pineapple cart!
Ryan films our little trip thru pineapple land.

Basically the golf cart ushers you thru some tropical areas where we see little baby pineapples growing, different types of pineapples & then some flowers. I will say this did settle the ongoing debate Ryan & I have over different types of fruit & veg, in regards to: does it grow on a tree or in the ground?
The cart stops & we get out & then we walk thru an area dedicated to all things 'shell'. There were hundreds of polished shiny shells, shells I've never seen or hear of, huge clams & then, of course, a little gift shop so you can buy anything made out of a shell.
Then we were corralled thru to the next shop, which was basically a buffet line of every type of pineapple product they have there. Pineapple wine, pineapple vinegar, pineapple chocolate, pineapple cake... are you getting the gist, Forrest? The kids were really happy to get to taste all the stuff & then we tried to exit as quickly as possible.

Mimi was still saying as we left, I want to go to the Pineapple Park! That was the park, I kept saying!

  1. What an odd day! Too bad they didn't have any rides, or at least a merry-go-round or something. There's nothing worse than trying to explain to a kid that the word 'park' doesn't always mean what they think it means!
